A few weeks ago, I helped arrange a meet and greet with one of our residents at work. I knew she flew in WWII as a WASP and recently received a congressional gold medal for her service. I thought it would be so great if I could get her to meet with Frankie, who at 10 years old, knows more about WWII than most people. I was so happy to hear her so excited when I asked her if she’d talk with Frankie. She started naming off all the books she’d want to show him and places she’d have to go looking for her old photo albums. I asked her if she would like to come down to the clubroom and meet with Frankie and his family. She said “No, have them come up here…I have way too many heavy books to show them!”
Here are some pictures of Frankie and family, enjoying Dorothy’s tales of flying.
Here's Frank with Dorothy, holding the medal. That thing is pretty heavy.
The entire family enjoying her fun stories, like her first time flying.
Frank with the medal again
It was fun listening in on what she remembered about her flying days. And she loved talking about it. The following Saturday, Frank took Frankie to the Air Zoo for a dinner honoring the WASP's and they sat at Dorothy’s table! Her stories are truly fascinating.
